Class hour - Responsibility for the Environment as a Moral Value

On 24 September 2025, Nataliia Krasniienko, group tutor of group 3KB-04, held a class hour on the topic: “Responsibility for the Environment as a Moral Value” for 3rd-year students of the Computer Systems Division.

The aim of the class hour on environmental ethics was to build in the students' minds an understanding that a person's attitude to nature is just as important a moral category as their attitude to another person. After all, it is essentially one and the same moral responsibility. Environmental ethics studies these relationships, seeking to identify new principles of behaviour that will help solve environmental problems and contribute to preserving nature for future generations.

The students learned that modern environmental problems can no longer be solved with outdated methods — they require a comprehensive, integrated approach based on a new ethics — bioethics.

The explanation of the new material was supplemented by a presentation with real photographs illustrating people's attitudes around the world towards environmental problems.

In conclusion, the students took part in a discussion of the TOP-8 environmental problems of Ukraine, namely: poor-quality water, air pollution, land degradation, deforestation, dangerous geological processes, household waste, military facilities and activities, and the Chornobyl disaster.
