Physical education, sports and mass events, and mass sport at the Separate Structural Subdivision “Odesa Technical Professional College of ONTU” are based on the Laws of Ukraine and carried out in accordance with the requirements of the state standard, sectoral standards and standards of professional pre-higher education for educational institutions approved by legislation.
The Physical Education Committee of the Separate Structural Subdivision “OTPC ONTU” is an academic and methodological structure aimed at involving students in physical culture and sport.
One of the most important elements of the work of the Physical Education Committee is the development of physical and moral and ethical qualities, the formation of worthy and distinctive character traits, and the fostering in students of purposefulness, confidence and willpower and the strengthening of health.
Physical education at the Separate Structural Subdivision “OTPC ONTU” provides varied physical and sports training for students, raises the level of functional capabilities and shapes a conscious attitude towards physical activity. Academic classes in physical education are held throughout the four years of study. For students who, for health reasons, cannot take part in general classes, special medical groups have been set up under the committee.
The Separate Structural Subdivision “OTPC ONTU” has sports sections in volleyball, basketball, table tennis, chess, draughts, football, cheerleading and athletics, to which students of all years are admitted taking into account their physical abilities and preferences.
At present, the subject committee has 5 qualified lecturers. They professionally combine academic work with sports and mass events. The committee's lecturers carry out significant work with the divisions of the Separate Structural Subdivision “OTPC ONTU” aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and at improving their own sporting achievements. The best indicators of the subject committee's work are the growth of students' sporting skill, students' participation in competitions at various levels, good health and a healthy lifestyle.
Student athletes of the Separate Structural Subdivision “OTPC ONTU” take part in the Regional Spartakiad and in the regional Olympiad among institutions of professional pre-higher education. The teams of the Separate Structural Subdivision “OTPC ONTU” in various sports have won gold, silver and bronze medals in the overall standings.
