Event Dedicated to the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language

On 27 October, Ukraine celebrates a great holiday – the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. A language that has travelled a thorny path of affirming itself, its right to be heard, its state-building function.

Students of group 2IM-06 of the Separate Structural Subdivision “Odesa Technical Professional College of ONTU” and lecturer M. M. Burundukova held an event dedicated to the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, “O Native Word! Wise and Ancient”.

The aim of the event: to become familiar with the history of the emergence of Ukrainian writing, and with the lives and work of the people whose names are associated with the appearance of Ukrainian writing; to foster a sense of respect for the historical past of our country and a sense of national consciousness, and an understanding that language is a national asset and wisdom, the music of the soul expressed in words, a continuous process of cognition of the world and of a person’s mastery of it.

The students quoted statements by famous linguists and writers about the Ukrainian language, recited poems and expressed their own opinions on the role of language for a people. The Ukrainian language, passed down from mouth to mouth, took root in texts, tirelessly overcomes the centuries, unites generations, preserves the spirituality of the people, and inspires feelings, creativity, deeds and heroic feats…

The language is immortal!

A person without a native language is mute.

Though they hear, they cannot speak.

And there is no love in their heart,

And the ember of happiness does not glow.
