On 24 March 2026, the Scientific Conference of Students of Higher Education “THE MATHEMATICAL COMPONENT OF MY LIFE”, organised by the Department of Computer and Physical and Mathematical Sciences of ONTU, took place.
Students of the Separate Structural Subdivision “Odesa Technical Professional College of ONTU” Mykhailenko Alina, Yuzik Veronika, Sokolovska Anastasiia and Sereda Olena, under the supervision of Tetiana Vasylivna Kachan, took an active part in the conference “The Mathematical Component of My Life”.
As part of the conference, the participants presented papers devoted to the role of mathematics in everyday life, information technology and professional activity.
In her paper “Mathematics as a Decision-Making Tool in Everyday Life”, Mykhailenko Alina demonstrated the practical application of mathematical methods in finance, planning, sport, shopping and transport. It was shown that mathematical calculations help to manage resources effectively and make well-founded decisions.
Yuzik Veronika presented the paper “The Mathematics of Privacy in My Life: From Classical RSA to Vulcan Core Algorithms in Messengers as a Means of Encryption”, in which she explained the significance of the mathematical foundations of cryptography, the principles of how encryption algorithms work and their evolution towards modern post-quantum technologies.
Sokolovska Anastasiia prepared a presentation on the topic “Mathematics as a Tool for Understanding the World: From Everyday Life to the Profession of an IT Specialist”, emphasising the role of mathematics in developing logical thinking, algorithmic skills and professional competencies in the IT field.
Sereda Olena presented a talk on the topic “The Mathematical Component of My Life”, in which she highlighted the significance of mathematics as the foundation of academic and future professional activity, as well as its influence on the development of analytical thinking and the ability to solve practical problems.
Participation in the conference contributed to the development of the students' scientific and critical thinking, the improvement of public speaking skills and the deepening of their knowledge of mathematics. The papers presented demonstrated the close connection between theoretical knowledge and its practical application. The conference participants will receive well-deserved certificates.
