In September 2026, members of the student research club “Business Club”, under the guidance of lecturer Olena Shymko, took part in thematic events dedicated to Hryvnia Day and the 30th anniversary of the national currency of Ukraine, organised by the National Bank of Ukraine.
The programme of events “Hryvnia – Our Symbol!” included virtual tours, webinars, master classes and a creative competition.
During the events, the students deepened their knowledge of the history of the hryvnia and of money circulation in Ukraine — from the times of Kyivan Rus and the period of the Ukrainian People’s Republic to the introduction of the modern hryvnia in 1996.
Of particular interest to the students were the webinars “Shah – Restoring Historical Justice” and “Money as a Means of Communication”, as well as events devoted to the tradition of using the hryvnia in Ukraine and to the history of money circulation.
Taking part in the Hryvnia Day events gave the members of the “Business Club” an opportunity not only to broaden their knowledge, but also to better understand the significance of the hryvnia as a national symbol and an important component of Ukraine’s economic life.
The “Business Club” continues to combine study with educational activities, fostering the development of students’ economic thinking, financial literacy and entrepreneurial competences.
